No one was injured in a fire near Holly Springs that destroyed a house early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

A house in the Cherokee Falls Estates at the Lake neighborhood, off Sixes Road near Holly Springs, was engulfed in flames at 3:45 a.m. when Cherokee County firefighters arrived on the scene, said Tim Cavender, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman.

“Early reports indicated that the fire may have started in the attic,” Cavender explained Wednesday. “The home was completely gutted and uninhabitable.”

The four adults living at the house — a couple, their adult daughter and her fiance — all managed to escape from the fire without injuries, Cavender said.

The two-story house, on Oak Way inside the neighborhood, was completely destroyed and the American Red Cross was called in to assist the family, Cavender said.

Both lanes of Oak Way were blocked as emergency personnel worked to put out the fire, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by Cherokee County Fire Investigators.
