An accident on Scott Road in Canton sent the driver of a black pickup truck to the hospital with minor injuries, authorities said.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and Cherokee Sheriff Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident Monday just shortly after 4 p.m. on Scott Road near Canton.

Tim Cavender, spokesman for Fire and Emergency service, said firefighters arrived on the scene to find the 21-year-old driver of the vehicle lying on the ground. The black truck he was driving left the highway and struck a tree, Cavender said.

The driver was conscious and alert and was transported in stable condition to Northside Cherokee Hospital, he said.

The driver was identified by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office as Joseph A. Jack of Canton.

No other vehicles were involved and no additional injuries were reported. The cause of the accident was under investigation, Cavender said.
