Sequoyah’s Aleah Johnson finished fifth in the finals of the 800-meter run Saturday as the Class AAAAA girls track and field state championships concluded in Albany.

Johnson completed the 800 in 2 minutes, 21.86 seconds. Tucker’s Kiera Washington won in 2:19.90.

In the team standings, Etowah placed fifth in Class AAAAAA, thanks largely to Leena Morris, who won the shot put and finished second in the discus Friday. The Lady Eagles scored 25 points, well behind the pace set by champion Westlake (61).

Etowah was the top team among its Region 5AAAAAA rivals, edging Walton (23) and Wheeler (22).

In Class AAAAA, Sequoyah finished 15th with 12 points, while Creekview was 19th with 10 points — all from Camille Fahrnbauer’s title in the high jump. Miller Grove won the title with 60 points.

The other team titles were won by Marist (AAAA), Woodward Academy (AAA), Lovett (AA), Eagle’s Landing Christian (A private) and Gordon Lee (A public).
