The new Wal-Mart in Holly Springs opened its doors Wednesday morning with a well-attended ribbon cutting ceremony.

More than 100 people crowded the entrance to the new store at 7:30 a.m. for the official ribbon cutting, with employees, community leaders and residents present.

As opening day got underway, the parking lot quickly filled — and remained full into the afternoon Wednesday.

The new Wal-Mart store, at 2200 Holly Springs Parkway, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and features a garden center and photo center.

The 180,000-square-foot Wal-Mart Super Center is led by Store Manager Robert Davis.

Another bland, awful store with lousy service and cheap Chinese products, killing off what's left of small business at Exit 14. If it's not on Sixes Road, the city administration doesn't care about it. I'd live to know how much payola changed hands on this deal. Woodstock got premium outlets, and we get a crappy Walmart.
