Thomas (Tommy) Ray Alvis, 54, Canton, formerly of Liberty, Missouri, died from an extended illness after suffering a stroke. A private memorial service will be held at 2PM, Saturday, June 14 at the historic Old Orange Cemetery. Mr Alvis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joyce Maxine Smithwick Alvis of Independence, Missouri; grandparents, Homer and Anna Alvis, and Tommy and Vesta Smithwick. Surviving are brother, Gary Alvis; niece, Lori Alvis (Nick) Towles; great nephew, Emmett Towles, all of Independence, Missouri. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
