Three people escaped without injury when a fire damaged a mobile home in northeast Cherokee County on Friday morning, Cherokee Fire spokesman Tim Cavender said. The doublewide mobile home on Conns Creek Road was engulfed in heavy flames and smoke when firefighters arrived at about 3:45 a.m., Cavender said. A 46-year-old woman, her 47-year-old former husband and their 29-year-old son all made it out of the home safely, after the woman told authorities she awoke to a loud noise and found the house filled with smoke, Cavender said. The home was damaged heavily by flames, smoke and water, and one lane of Conns Creek Road was blocked while crews extinguished the fire.
