RINGGOLD, Ga. (AP) — A carpet and flooring manufacturing company is planning to expand its recycling center in northwest Georgia.

Shaw Industries Group, Inc. is planning to invest $17 million in a recycling plant in Ringgold that is expected to create 70 new jobs. The plant is expected to process post-consumer recycled materials.

Shaw's Vice President of Sustainability and Environmental Affairs Paul Murray said in a statement that expanding the company's recycling efforts is aimed at converting what may once have been considered waste into economically viable products.

Ringgold is about 15 miles southeast of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
