The others are still under review.
With the assistance of state probation officers, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office conducted its bi annual checkup on sex offenders and have only 40 left to visit, said Lt. Jay Baker, Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Baker said the remaining 40 will be checked by deputies in the coming days.
“State law requires us to verify sex offenders once a year, but our agency chooses to do it twice a year to ensure compliance,” Baker said.
One sex offender — Jeremy Gunter, 19, of Holly Springs — was arrested at his home during the search, as he had a warrant out for his arrest for being out past curfew recently, Baker said.
“His curfew is 6 p.m., but curfews are only imposed on certain sex offenders, and the time can vary,” he said.
Gunter remained in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without bond Thursday.
