Facing a high blood shortage, the American Red Cross is need of donors willing to roll up a sleeve and give.

Two blood drives will be held locally on Thursday. Donors can donate from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the city of Holly Springs, at 3237 Holly Springs Parkway. Those in Marietta can head to the Marietta Conference and Resort Center, at 500 Powder Springs Road, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Donations through the Red Cross are down about 8 percent over the last 11 weeks, resulting in about 80,000 fewer donations than expected, the agency said in a release.

A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.

Individuals who are 17 years of age, weighing at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.
