New assistant principals prepping for school year

The Cherokee County School District’s seven newly appointed assistant principals joined returning administrators in preparing for the upcoming school year, which begins Monday.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Petruzielo said the new assistant principals are ready to help lead various schools around the district.

“These assistant principals are our brightest new leaders, and I know they will excel in their roles of ensuring each child is prepared for future success and that every educator exceeds expectations,” Petruzielo said.

Angela Greene is a new assistant principal at Woodstock Middle School, and most recently served as a Teacher on Special Assignment for Special Education.

Clay Gunter is a new assistant principal for Sixes Elementary School, and he most recently served as a teacher at Oak Grove Elementary School Fine Arts Academy.

Cathe-rine Holman is a new assistant principal at Dean Rusk Middle School, and most recently served as a school counselor a Mill Creek Middle School.

Dr. Benjamin Lester will be a new assistant principal for Teasley Middle School, and most recently served as a Spanish teacher at Cherokee High School.

Craig McKinney will serve as a new assistant principal at E.T. Booth Middle School, and most recently served as a math teacher at Etowah High School.

Dr. Amanda Ruiz is a new assistant principal at Etowah High School, and most recently served as a Teacher on Special Assignment at Etowah High School.

Rachel Wasserman is a new assistant principal for Woodstock Elementary School, and most recently served as a teacher at Woodstock Elementary.
