Sequoyah, hosting the tournament for the 24th year, opened its season with a decisive win over Milton (25-18, 25-7) before another impressive win over Lambert (25-13, 25-13).
The Lady Chiefs will play Whitewater today at 10 a.m. in their final pool play match.
Etowah is off to a 2-0 start in its pool, as is Pope, in a Pool C with Sonoraville and Mount Vernon Presbyterian. Etowah and Pope will meet today at 9 a.m.
In Pool D, also being played at Etowah, Norcross is 1-1, with Northgate 2-0. Kell and South Forsyth were playing their second matches of the day late Friday evening, but both had a win to their credit.
In Pool H at Creekview, the Lady Grizzlies started 2-0, beating Houston County (25-17, 25-15) and Cartersville (25-14, 25-13).
River Ridge hosted matches in Pools E and F, at a site that also included Cherokee. The Lady Knights beat Northside-Columbus and Oconee County.
Woodstock was in Pool G with Allatoona, Starr’s Mill and Sprayberry.
