Keep superintendent longer

I am in vehement disagreement with our School Board in their extension of our superintendent’s contract for one year. Dr. Frank Petruzielo was hired in 1999 to turn around a school system in disarray with a threat of losing its accreditation. Since that hire, he has turned the Cherokee County School system into one of the best in the state of Georgia.

In the private sector, when a CEO is as successful as Dr. Petruzielo, we don’t give him an annual contract; we give him a multi-year contract.

In my opinion, the Cherokee County Board of Education should reconsider this one-year extension of Dr. Petruzielo’s contract, and consider a three- to five-year extension.

This would be best for the children in the school system.
