Carol Ware Homiller of Ball Ground, GA passed away September 26, 2009. Carol was born January 6, 1940 to Charles Leon and Laura (Reed) Ware and grew up in Glassboro, NJ. She had many happy childhood memories of Lake Gilman in New Jersey, where she was looked after by Skipper Gilman, her older brother, Charles, and her beloved Aunt Betsy. At Glassboro High School, Carol was the salutatorian and voted "most friendly." She went on to receive a B.S. in Library Sciences from Simmons College in Boston. Carol married Frank T. Homiller and had five sons in Massachusetts. During that time she oper-ated a ceramics studio, "Crafts by Carol," out of her home. Carol and family moved to Ball Ground in 1973, started Cherokee Ceramic Center and had two additional children, including a long-awaited daughter. Carol served with her mother at the first library in Ball Ground (a converted bookmobile) and also worked at the Reinhardt College library. Carol then began a 25 year career with the State of Georgia in Child Support Services, and rose to become a regional manager, highly respected and loved by her co-workers. Carol loved her church family, serving as the clerk, VBS director and pianist, and particularly loved the thrill she felt when she opened the service each week at the piano with the call to worship. Carol retired from employment with the state in April, 2008 and had recently begun serving as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, continu-ing a lifetime of service to both her own children and the children of Georgia. Carol is survived by her children: Frank, Daniel, Stephen, Philip, Matthew, James and Betsy; twenty-one grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Ware; niece, Barbara Makaro; and nephew, Lee Ware. A memorial service will be held at Ball Ground First Baptist Church at 2 pm on Saturday, October 3. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Carol's memory to the church at PO Box 328, Ball Ground, GA 30107. All contributions will be designated for foreign missions work which was very important to her. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Georgia 404-355-7627

I an sorry to learn of your loss. Mrs. Homiller was a wonderful woman. I worked with her thru the Gainesville Child Support office and made cakes for her some times. She will truly be missed by all. Please know that your family is in my prayers.
