"I have been visiting with them about a consulting position," Dooley said, acknowledging he was intrigued by the idea of building a program from the ground up.
He declined further comment.
KSU officials would neither confirm nor deny the news on Thursday, but said they will make an announcement at a news conference on Dec. 10.
Dooley's comments come after KSU officials announced Tuesday that a new $16.5 million stadium being built on 21 acres off George Busbee Parkway, which the Kennesaw State University Foundation recently purchased, would be home to women's professional soccer team the Atlanta Beat as well as KSU's women's soccer team.
KSU officials confirmed that the new, 8,300-seat stadium could be expanded to as large as 22,000 seats to accommodate football. KSU is forming a football exploratory committee to determine if a football program would be wanted and supported.
Dooley coached 25 years at Georgia, winning 201 games before retiring in 1988. He was the university's athletic director until 2004.

Where are KSU's priorities? Why would we consider getting closer to a football program "looking up"?
