When classes begin in August, many Cherokee County schools will have new faces at the helm.

The Cherokee County school board will consider accepting administrative retirements and making new hires at its meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Historic Canton High School school board auditorium .

Carmel Elementary School principal Dr. Sharron Hunt and Cherokee High School principal Pam Biser will both retire in June after the school year ends.

R.M. Moore Elementary principal Keith Bryant will take Dr. Hunt's place at Carmel and Teasley Middle School principal Debra Murdock will take the helm at Cherokee in August.

Bryant will be replaced by Hasty Elementary assistant principal Jan Adamson and Director of Special Education Dr. Sue Zinkil will replace Mrs. Murdock at Teasley.

Cherokee High School assistant principal Mark Smith will succeed Woodstock Middle School principal Keith Ball. Ball will be transferred to Etowah High School to take over for current principal Ron Dunnavant, who will be promoted as the director of school operations.

Dunnavant is replacing Dr. Brian Hightower, who will be promoted to the role as assistant superintendent of school operations.

Chapman Intermediate School assistant principal Dr. Dianne Steinbeck will transfer to Holly Springs Elementary as the school's new principal. Current Holly Springs principal Jonathan Hall will be moved to Free Home Elementary to replace current principal Les Conley, who will be transferring to Boston Elementary.

Current Boston principal Letitia Cline will be transferred to Avery Elementary to replace current principal Dr. Georgann Toop. It is unclear where Dr. Toop will be transferred to in the shuffling.

Wouldn't it be smarter and easier to just upgrade the vice principals from the same school instead of moving someone from a school that doesn't know anything about the students or the corriculum? I think it would be easier since they're already there anyway. It would take less time to train them too.
