A Woodstock police officer foiled an armed robbery before it happened in the early morning Wednesday.

Officer Jeremy Cochran was patrolling the area of Bentley Parkway when he noticed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Woodstock Community Center at approximately 1 a.m.

While speaking with the three males in the car, Cochran said he noticed a fourth male hiding in nearby bushes armed with a rifle.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the men were waiting on the arrival of someone they supposedly were selling a cell phone to that through Craigslist. Police believe the men may have been planning on taking the individual's money.

Tevin Prewett, 18, of McDonough, Theo Francois, 18, of Hampton and Edward Bozeman III, 18, of Hampton were expected to turn themselves in by Friday afternoon. They have been charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Charges are pending on the fourth individual.

Brittany Duncan, public information officer for the Woodstock Police Department, said the department does not run into many cases like this, calling it an "isolated incident."

She said that the department recommends that when meeting someone to complete a transaction done over the Internet, it is best to meet during daylight hours in a public place. She also suggested taking someone with you when meeting the person.
