The season finales of many TV shows have recently aired, just in time for the 2010 political season.

Cherokee County will be active this year with six races in the primary election in July and six races in the general election in November.

Cherokee County School Board Post 3 Representative Gary Puckett is being challenged by Michael Geist of Woodstock in the primary election. In the general election, the winner will face off against Democrat Tony Guice of Woodstock.

Post 6 Representative Debi Radcliff will face Rob Usher of Woodstock in the primary election. The winner in that election moves on against Democrat Alice Archey in November.

State Sen. Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) will face a challenge from Democrat Patrick Thompson of Roswell in the November election.

State Rep. Calvin Hill (R-Hickory Flat) will have Democratic opposition from Stephanie Webb of Canton.

State Rep. Charlice Byrd (R-Woodstock) will face Republican Michael Caldwell of Woodstock in the primary election. Waiting for the winner in that race is Democrat Lillian Burnamen of Woodstock.

State Rep. Sean Jerguson (R-Holly Springs) faces John Forrester of Woodstock in the primary election. The win-ner will face Bill Brown of Woodstock in November. Brown ran for the seat in 2008.

County Commissioner Derek Good will face a challenge from Jason Nelms of Woodstock. Solicitor David Can-non, Jr. will be challenged by Channing Ruskell, a former Solicitor who ran for the office in 2006.

What issues are going to be important during this election season? Will the economy be the primary concern? Will growth be an issue, even though there has not been much of it in the county lately? Is transportation still a big issue?

I just read that the total goverment cost for illegal immigration is a whopping $ 338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR. Is this true? If so, this is a huge political problem and should effect the elections.

The issue is competence. And clearly, our current slate of state legislators have none. Throw them all out, either in the primary or in the general election in November.
