Loyd Phillips, age 78, of Canton, died on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at Kennestone Hospital. He was a self employed heavy equipment operator. He was a member and deacon for over 44 years at New Light Baptist Church and his hobbies included woodworking and vegetable gardening. Funeral services will be held from New Light Baptist Church on Friday, August 13, 2010, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Terry Caylor and Rev. Eddie Satterfield officiating. Internment Cherokee Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife Dorothy West Phillips, Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Rebecca Moen Phillips, Sandy Springs; sister, Sarah Hillhouse, Canton; grandchildren, Brady Andrew and Orion Thomas Phillips; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends today from 12 noon until 8 p.m. and until funeral hour on Friday.
