A Canton man was killed in a three-vehicle crash off Interstate 575 in Canton on Wednesday night.

The Canton Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Unit was called to the intersection of the I-575 exit 16B off ramp and Highway 140/Hickory Flat Highway at 7:30 p.m.

A tractor-trailer hauling sod was traveling north down the ramp when, for reasons not yet determined, it ran the stop light and struck a Chevy Tahoe traveling east on the highway.

The two vehicles then struck a Honda Prelude traveling west on the highway driven by Alfredo Carreto, 22, of Canton. Carreto died at the scene.

The Tahoe driver, whose name was not released, was transported by Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta in stable condition.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Mitchell Wilburn of Alabama, was not injured.

No charges have been filed, but police said the investigation is ongoing.

The police department requested assistance from Georgia Department of Transportation Enforcement officers to assist in the inspection of the tractor-trailer. The ramp was closed until 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

You think just because he was mexican he didn't deserve to die? Would you prefer it be a LEGAL American?

Everyone has the right to live, no matter who or what they are.
